Chat can move conversation.

A chat interface can collect context, answer questions, and help people move faster. That does not make it an operating model.

Work still needs a route. Someone has to own intake, decision rights, exceptions, quality checks, AI boundaries, and transfer.

The operating model sits underneath.

If a team cannot explain what happens after a request arrives, a chat interface will only make the uncertainty more interactive.

The system needs rules for what can be answered, what must be escalated, what needs approval, and what should never be handled by an agent.

A better interface does not fix an undefined workflow.

Design the route before the conversation.

Before adding chat, define the work behind it. Name the inputs, decisions, handoffs, AI actions, and stop conditions.

Then the interface has something real to operate inside.
